In 2020, our office printer produced a single page featuring a warped version of the Spinelli Kilcollin logo. Inspired by this happy accident, the SK team voted to highlight this design on our latest staff t-shirt; showcasing the printer as our collaborator in the process. Collaboration like innovation and sustainability is important to us, as is recognizing opportunities for creative inspiration in surprising places.

Born in Italy as the son of a blacksmith, Antoine Spinelli worked alongside his father hand forging iron gates, tools, and horseshoes. In 1959, he immigrated to North America at the age of 15 and has been successfully cultivating his curious and innovative spirit ever since. Whether it be through cutting hair, designing and building furniture, fixing classic European cars, painting, or creating the first SK ring, the Aquarius, with his son Yves, Antoine is a master of his domain. 
 
This limited edition silk scarf is inspired by Antoine’s esteemed water color paintings depicting scenes from nature.

Since 2014, To The Planetarium has been the artistic entity behind the renders of our pieces. To The Planetarium originated with a conversation about the ecstatic trance produced by images and the possibility that this trance holds for collective experience. At their studio in Chinatown, Los Angeles, while looking up at the stars or down through the viewfinder, they strive to produce warmth and air in their images. A limited edition of 250 citrine scarves oscillates between the photorealism so indicative of TTP's craftsmanship and the rich history of pattern based silk scarves. Depicting a signature SK piece, the Serpens chain, the woven pattern honors the iconic form while contorting the depth of field on the vibrant fabric.

Serpens Scarf

In December of 1957, A Map of the Heavens first appeared in the National Geographic article “How Man-made Satellites Can Affect Our Lives.” The map depicts the constellations and brightest stars as seen from the northern and southern hemispheres. Since its debut, the poster iteration of the map has become a sought after collector's item and a personal memento of the SK family. Inspired by A Map of the Heavens, our Constellation scarf celebrates the role the National Geographic print has had in the SK galaxy. Hanging in the home office of Dwyer Kilcollin and Yves Spinelli, A Map of the Heavens, influenced the naming of several signature SK rings. And now, the Constellation scarf celebrates the history of the National Geographic print while adding signature SK design, propelling us forward into new dimensions of space and time.

Ursa Major Keychain

This special edition Maxfield Polaroid T-Shirt was created for the 50th Anniversary of the iconic Maxfield boutique. The screen printed poly and cotton blend T features scanned polaroids taken by Yves Spinelli in the stock room of Maxfield between 1997-2001.

 "I started working as a cashier at Maxfield in 1997. Back then, all the shoes were photographed with a Polaroid, and pictures were taped to the boxes so that they could easily be found in the stockroom. I thought some photos had interesting compositions and made the shoes look like they had their own personalities. I started keeping the ones that spoke to me as the shoes sold, and I collected several hundred before Polaroid stopped making film in 2001."
